Our skin is a true testimony to the correctness of the saying that we are what we eat. Tasty, refreshing and rejuvenating; we need to enjoy these Superfoods for a Super Skin.

The skin is our body’s largest organ and deserves all the nutritional tenderness, love, and care we can give it. So, be careful of what you directly feed yourself and indirectly feed your skin.

Low-fat dairy products are some of the finest sources of vitamin A. This is because they contain some of the most important elements for skin health. Based on the preceding, it can be said that the skin’s health relies on vitamin A.

On top of being high in vitamin A, low-fat yogurt is also high in acidophilus. This is the “live” bacteria that is excellent for intestinal health. It turns out acidophilus may also have a good effect on the skin since it assists digestion. Other suitable sources of vitamin A include fortified breakfast cereal, leafy vegetables, cod liver oil, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

It is also important to ensure you’re eating foods rich in antioxidants, such as plums, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. These foods bring plentiful benefits of healthiness to the skin. In addition, phytochemicals and antioxidants from these foods can protect the skin cells with minimum chance of damage to the skin.

The protection of skin cells, in turn, safeguards us against early aging and keeps skin looking more youthful for longer. The other vegetables and fruits that are high in antioxidants include pecans, prunes, artichokes, black, red, and pinto beans.

Oils For a Super Skin

Oils derived from flax seed, canola oil, salmon, and walnuts are called Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). They allow nutrients to pass through and keep cell membranes healthy.

Our bodies also require healthy oils that contain more than essential fatty acids. Eating good-quality fats helps keep the skin lubricated and also keeps it looking and feeling healthier overall. Look for oils that are cold pressed, such as olive, extra virgin, and avocado oil. We only need about two tablespoons of healthy oils a day.

Other Superfoods For a Super Skin

Selenium plays a crucial role in the healthiness of skin cells. You can eat foods like cereals, muffins, whole-wheat bread, brazil nuts, tuna, and turkey for this important nutrient. Current research shows that if selenium levels are high, even skin harmed by the sun may only suffer minimal damage.

Choosing whole-grain versions of complex carbohydrates can significantly affect insulin levels. In addition, processed and refined sugars can cause inflammation that may ultimately be linked to skin breakouts.

Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties and shields the cell’s membrane. It may even help deter or decrease the risks of skin cancer.

Water plays a crucial role in your overall health, and it has a profound effect on your skin’s health. Well-hydrated skin is young-looking and healthy. Water also helps move the toxins out of your system, reducing their chance of causing harm.
